Some things

Some starts are rough, in the end they'll know the best balance Some starts are smooth, within them comes a later learning. Some hearts are made of stone, they'll find their way back home Some hearts are made of light, never not wanting to be your bright. Some parts are just right, they should be held forever tight Some parts are dark as night, they let us know how good the day is. Some arts are work of masters, they show us what heaven was when making you. Some arts are epic in nature, they guide our imagination to an any tomorrow. Some arcs are there to be walked through, and for me, I want to with you.Sky true meant, that is time spent in a reality from this...electric "hue"

To all ye smokers

I get deals sent to me by an online seller of technology and saw this in todays mail, the direct link is at the bottom of this post.

What is the E Cigarette?

The E-cigarette (also known as the electronic cigarette and electric cigarette) is the healthier alternative to the traditional cigarette.

Mad as it sounds, it literally allows you to smoke without smoking. Rather than toxic smoke, you breathe in vapourised nicotine.
Amazingly, the e-cigarette looks, feels and functions exactly like a real cigarette.

Since it does not contain any tobacco, you are free to smoke it anywhere you want, smoking ban or not!

Whats in the box?

1 x led cigarette with additional cartridge
10 x refill cartridges (with an average of 250 drags per cartridge)
1 x Usb charger

The e-cigarette Cartridge comes in 2 flavours and a variety of strengths:

•    Normal tobacco e-cigarette Cartridge Medium strength (quick find 161730)
•    Normal tobacco e-cigarette Cartridge High strength (quick find 167313)
•    Normal tobacco e-cigarette Cartridge Low strength (quick find 167315)

Are electronic cigarettes actually like smoking?

As someone who used to smoke tobacco cigarettes, I can probably give you a better answer than most people. Electronic cigarettes taste slightly different than normal cigarettes but they have many more benefits:

  • Not banned under the smoking ban
  • Save more than £3000 per year
  • Instant nicotine hit - 10x faster than gum or patches
  • No Tar
  • No Flame - zero chance of burning the sofa (or house)
  • No Toxic Carcinogens causing lung cancer
  • No Unpleasant Odours - tobacco smoke "clings" to clothes
  • No Nasty Passive Smoking Effects
  • No more Tobacco cravings!

How Electronic cigarettes work

Atomizing device - When the electronic cigarette is inhaled, this heats up the liquid nicotine turning it into a harmless nicotine vapour.

Battery - This powers the electronic cigarette. The rechargeable battery lasts for 2 - 3 days including a usb power adaptor for charging them.

Liquid cartridge - This contains the liquid nicotine which is turned into nicotine vapour, giving you that instant hit. Once the vapour runs out, you simply replace the cartridge. Each cartridge is equal to approximately 15 cigarettes meaning you can get 15 cigarettes for under 1 pound! The electronic cigarette comes with 10 catridges equal to 150 cigarettes.

The skies the limit

Those who know me, know I'm quite an open minded and easy going person. At the same time, I develop clear opinions based on sense; every cloud does have a silver lining after all.

I would like to draw your attention to a news article I read on the net this evening after watching the news on normal TV.

 - There was a degree of scare mongering which made me think of that epic film, V for Vendetta. First, there was the deadly Swine Flu :o that only the government can save us from with its vaccines; dadadadaaaaaaa, you might get ill and need to stay in bed for a whole...THREE days if you catch it, the end of humanity as we know it.
- Then there was coverage of the 16 soldiers who died in the last 17 days in Afghanistan. May they rest in peace and be remembered with smiles by all those who knew. The way it was covered makes me kind of sick though ending in someone saying we need MORE helicopters out there so it gets another level less personal and we don't feel so responsible...honestly; if you go to war, there is a chance you will die and it has been made out in terms of scale that asteroids fell out of the sky to strike them down and it's something the whole world needs to know about. What about all the Afgani's who have died as a result of OUR invasion?
- Third on the news was something closer to home; the story of Andrew Ibrahim. A muslim convert who was supposedly planning a suicide attack What happened to change a middle-class, British-born man, educated at some of Bristol's top independent schools, into the radical facing terror charges in court? Could it be that this person was raised in good steed with no real direction and at some point took a step back and thought "What do we live for here?" I in no way condone terrorism; I'm almost a pacifist and say yes to peace whenever I can but, can't stop trying to put myself in his shoes just to try and think what changed him so; it must have been one seriously ugly realisation.
- The final story was how Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid for...£80,000,000...I had to write it out in pure numbers because some people speak in millions as if they are pennies; it's a HUGE amount just so one guy can kick a sack around.

So that was the news, nothing pretty and a lot of fear mongering which in my opinion tries to make people more reliant on the government. Now to the point of this article, I don't post often just to say stuff like "Is feeling lazy".

An article on www.theregister.co.uk spoke of a man who lives in Poole and wanted to celebrate his 30th birthday by having a barbecue with 15 of his friends over the weekend. Sounds like a blast so far eh :D The insanity comes in to play when *four* cop cars, *one *riot van and a *police helicopter* were used to raid his house and shutdown the event one hour after it started. The reason for this...because he invited his friends using Facebook and worded it "an all-nighter" because some of the friends were going to stay the night and everyone loves partying in to the early morning anyway.

Why didn't this make the news? It's a corker and highlights a major case of how our civil liberties have been breached; all he wanted to do was eat burgers and drink beer with 15 of his friends in to the night. It just goes to show how much of our freedom has been taken away without realizing we no longer live in a democracy but a fascist state; the only democratic thing we can do in reality is put 2 crosses in a box once every 4 years...The bit that worries me most is that when I told someone about this, their reply was so calm and almost as if they expected it. I bet the police helicopter hovering above caused more of a disturbance than the party ever was going to.

Bluntly put, a waste of money on the authorities part, if the government had their way, (which lets face it, they do) everything would be grey and we wouldn't be allowed to talk above 60Db. I love England, it's such a beautiful place but, this is F'ing ridiculous; I can understand why Andrew became an extremist almost. Again, just want to point out; I am not an extremist or terrorist :3

Sharing skills

I recently made a couple of posters for the local Environment Centre for skill sharing. The premise being, if you have free time and skills that could be used in "simple living" (a world with no oil isn't far away!) ; would you like to share and teach others about them.

The posters had to be kept very simple and based off some existing content.

The video that says all that needs to be said

It was Wednesday and I felt like sitting back, relaxing with a brew or two and streaming the video vibe of the web. Having finished the Sarah Connor Chronicles (which ends up in an entropic time paradox :p) something new was needed and in just that section was a documentary called HOME; that's when in the process of the next hour and a half my now perspective changed even more.

Remember a few years back, there was this guy called Al Gore who tried to get a strong message across but it got all lost in numbers so no-one seemed to care? :3

HOME is almost more a work of art, its producers are a group of 80k including designers like Gucci. All the worlds wonders and woe's and acts we can clearly see so long as we don't blink are put on film in a motion picture that flows in common sense and eye massaging scenery. I highly recommend EVERYONE to watch this film, it is such an important message and I hope you will feel and enjoy it.

Here's the link to the main HOME page or if you just want to skip to the video, Youtube are hosting it here in many languages!.

Peace and love

Make your own sun tan lotion?! O.o :O :D

This post will show you how to make your own sunscreen in a nice easy recipe, could even add a little perfume/aftershave to be that little bit more hmmmmm. By making your own sunscreen, you control exactly what goes in (no hair of panda and eye of newt) and save a bank vault this summer!
Moz-screenshot-2

step 1Materials

You'll need the following ingredients to make sunscreen:

  • 8oz carrier. oil - olive, sunflower, jojoba, soybean - your choice
  • 1oz emulsifing wax
  • Sunblocking agent - zinc oxide or titanium dioxide - available from most health goods shops or your local terrorist supply center :3 When working with this stuff, ALWAYS wear gloves and a mask!
  • Essential oils of your choice (opt.) - Things that make you smell hmmmm

The following tools make the job easier:

  • Mixer - either handheld mixer, submersible blender, or mini chopper - NOT TO BE USED FOR FOOD AFTERWARDS
  • Silicone spatula
  • Pastry bag or plastic baggie
  • Container for your lotion
  • Scale for accurate measuring
  • Gloves and a mask for handling powdered agents

step 2An Easier Recipe

If you want your sunscreen NOW, and you don't want to mess around with making your own lotion, just buy your favorite lotion from the store, and add your zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to that!

This means you can make sunscreen that's sensitive enough to use on delicate skin, or is already your favorite scent or creaminess.

  • 8oz lotion
  • Zinc oxide or titanium dioxide (see shopping link above) - follow chart below for appropriate portions, and following the remaining directions

step 3Mix oils and wax

Measure one ounce of wax into a microwave safe container.
Melt on high heat (approx 1 minute for me).
Add 8oz. oil, and blend well.
Add a few drops of essential oils for scent.

The mixture may need to back in the microwave for a bit if it starts to harden up again.

step 4SPF Table

Use the following table to determine your measurements.

For example, 8oz. (weighed) of lotion + .8oz of titanium micronized dioxide (weighed) = SPF20+
The Micronized TD is 10% of the original amount of lotion used (not the finished weight).

If you used 8oz of lotion + .8oz of Micronized ZO, the SPF would be 11-12.

If it's still too confusing, ask!

Concentration of
Sunscreens & SPF
Low
(SPF 2-5)
Moderate
(SPF 6-11)
High
(SPF 12-19)
Ultra High
(SPF >20)
Titanium Dioxide <4 % 8 % 12 % 20 %
Titanium Dioxide, Micronized 2 % 4 % 6 % 10 %
Zinc Oxide 5 % 10 % 15 % 25 %
Zinc Oxide, Micronized 3 % 7.5 % 12 % 20 %

step 5Add dry ingredients

Wearing your gloves and mask, carefully measure zinc oxide or titanium oxide into your blending container (see chart above).

For this recipe, I weighed out .9oz of Micronized TO to make an SPF >20.

Add the wax/oil mixture to the powder.

Blend thoroughly.

Scrape the sides of your mixing bowl and blend some more.

Continue blending until the powder is thoroughly incorporated.

step 6Transfer into container

Use a silicone spatula to transfer your mixture into a pastry bag or plastic baggie with the corner snipped off.

Squeeze the lotion into your new containers and label.

Apply liberally and frequently!!
